Comerong Island Ferry Inspection and Refurbishment.
Council must conduct maintenance and inspections on the Comerong Island Ferry every five years.
Works are necessary to maintain the long-term safety and viability of the service and are due from the second half of 2025 and take around 12 weeks.
An alternative will operate for residents during this time, although the regular timetable will be impacted.

About the works
Council plans to go to tender in April 2025 to find a suitable contractor for the Comerong Ferry inspection and refurbishment work.
The refurbishment includes sandblasting, ultrasonic sheet testing, re-sheeting and repainting. The works are expected to take around 12 weeks with a further two weeks for compliance – the Certificate of Survey from Australian Maritime Safety Authority. The ferry should be back in service by the end of November.
