Dogs declared as either dangerous, menacing or restricted

Authorised Council officers can declare dogs to be dangerous or menacing as a result of a dog attack.  Restricted dogs are also subject to a declaration as ownership of these breeds are not permitted in NSW in accordance with the Companion Animals Act 1998.

Enclosure requirements

If your dog is declared dangerous or restricted, the place where you usually keep your dog will need to be an enclosure that meets the requirements of the Companion Animals Regulation 2018.

In order to prove that your enclosure meets the requirements, you will need a Certificate of Compliance from Council.
