November 2023 Update - Budget is not available to complete this project in the 2023/24 financial year. Funding has been moved to next financial year and the project has been deferred.

About the project

This project addresses the existing timber retaining wall and concrete slab north of the boat ramp that has been significantly damaged due to recent storm events. This timber retaining wall is proposed to be replaced with a revetment wall constructed from natural sandstone blocks of varying sizes, which has been implemented at other locations across the Shoalhaven to promote fish habitats and enhance the site’s aesthetic appeal (e.g. Woollamia Boat Ramp).

The proposal also considers the erection of a new fish-cleaning facility, which will increase the usability of the site.

The proposed works have been split into 2 stages:

  • Stage 1: All deliverables north of the boat ramp, including:
    • replacing the failed timber retaining wall with the proposed sandstone revetment wall
    • reinstatement of fish cleaning facility.
  • Stage 2: All deliverables south of the boat ramp, including:
    • replacing the existing timber retaining wall with the proposed sandstone revetment wall.

It is Council’s intention to address Stage 1 as a priority, in order to replace and repair the damaged infrastructure at the northern end of the site.

Council will be providing future updates on this project webpage, including additional supporting documents, finalised design plans, upcoming timeframes for construction and associated milestones.

History

September 2023 Update - Due to limited construction funds the current focus of the works is to address the damage to the fish cleaning facility, repair the most at-risk sections of the revetment wall and prevent further deterioration of the bank. Council is reviewing the final design plans and will provide them on this page once approved.
