Shoalhaven City Council is calling for nominations for four vacancies on the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group. The vacancies are a result of the normal process of a number of fixed-term industry representatives who retire each year plus any resignations during the last 12 months. The appointment is for a two year period.
The Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group is the most successful Group or Association in the Local Government arena in NSW. It is through the efforts of the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group that the Shoalhaven enjoys the position of number one regional tourist destination in NSW.
The objective of the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group is to promote tourism to the City. Its role and purpose is to:
- Review of Council priorities for sustainable tourism.
- Represent the tourism industry and advise and make recommendations to Council on matters relating to tourism, the development of tourism and the future of tourism in the Shoalhaven.
- Advocate for direct and in-direct value and benefits of tourism within the Shoalhaven and on a regional, state and national basis.
The group meets no less than quarterly and advises Council on policy for the promotion of the City.
Group membership is a voluntary position but one that carries a lot of prestige in the industry. The Group consists of nine industry representatives and Councillors (including the Mayor).
Nomination to the Group is open to appropriately skilled industry representatives. Self-nominations are normal and acceptable and should include a current CV.
Nominations, quoting 1490E, should be in writing and lodged with the General Manager, Shoalhaven City Council, PO Box 42, Nowra 2541 on or before 5pm on Wednesday 28 February 2018.
