Do you know a young person who deserves acknowledgement for their contribution to their community? Perhaps they volunteer, are a good neighbour or are a great youth ambassador for your school or club!
Shoalhaven City Council is inviting you to nominate local young people under 24 years of age for Council’s International Youth Day Awards, which will be presented at an Awards event on Thursday, 9 August 2018.
Organised by Council’s Youth Advisory Committee, the Awards aim to recognise local young people aged 12 – 24 years of age, who support and inspire other residents, enrich lives, assist others and encourage the wellbeing of the Shoalhaven community.
Mayor Amanda Findley said, “These Awards recognise and reward outstanding young people in our community. I encourage everyone in the community to nominate a young person they know who is making a difference. These people are the future of the Shoalhaven.”
Young people can be nominated for the following awards:
The Challenge and Change Award recognises a young person who has made a substantial turn around in their life and demonstrated personal growth while overcoming challenges in day to day life.
- The Good Neighbour Award recognises a young person who has contributed within the community by helping neighbours, strengthening community bonds and enriching community life.
- The Positive Youth Award recognises individuals who promote a positive image of young people within schools, clubs and the wider community.
- The Community Citizenship Award recognises young people involved in a range of activities that make a major difference in the lives of others.
- The Inspiration Award recognises a young person who can be described as an inspirational role model to others.
