What type of hard plastic containers are included?
These are containers that originally contained a food, beverage or soap based product. The type of products that you would typically buy in the supermarket and use in your kitchen, laundry or bathroom including
- soft drink and milk bottles
- sauce bottles and condiment jars
- detergents, washing liquids
- shampoo and hand wash
- fridge items such as ice-cream, margarine, yogurt
Before you throw it out
Remove lid. Find out what to do with lids here.
Empty contents. Give food containers a quick rinse with used dishwater.
How/where to dispose of it
Recycle via the yellow lid bin or Council's recycling and waste depots.
Will it cost anything to get rid of?
No.
What happens to it after we receive it?
Plastic is sent to specialised recyclers where the containers are separated into various grades of plastics. They are then made into pellets and powders where manufacturers make into plastic products.
