On Monday 30 January 2023 Council launched Year to Thrive Together campaign to help people doing it tough.

As the impact of housing shortages and increasing costs continues to compound in the Shoalhaven, Council has launched a year-long campaign to support community services help those in need.

The Year to Thrive Together Campaign includes:

  • Mayor’s Relief Fundraising: Donations can be made online through the Give Now platform. During the eight week fundraising campaign we invite everyone to donate to the Mayor’s Relief Fund to assist community members who are in crisis or doing it tough. These funds will be distributed to local service providers to help pay for emergency relief including food, utility and vehicle related bills and accessing temporary or emergency accommodation.

  • Donations drive for care packs (June): During the colder months Council will call for donations of new non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets, beanies, socks and gloves, sanitary products, baby supplies and kid’s toys. These items will be arranged into Care Packs for individuals and families and will be given out at the annual Thrive Together Fair.

  • Thrive Together Fair (August): The Thrive Together Fair is an annual event that helps the community connect with local support services. It is a one stop shop for financial, housing, legal, government, physical and mental health and wellbeing support all under one roof. There is also plenty of entertainment and give aways on the day, including Care Packs, as well as dignity services such as free haircuts and showers. .

  • Property Owner Accommodation Call Out (September-October).

  • Mayor’s Giving Box (December): A call for gifts and donations to give to those in need during the festive season.

More information on how to donate items for the care packs and event details of the Fair will be made available in the coming months.
