Yalwal & George Evans Road - Mundamia - Intersection Upgrade

Shoalhaven City Council is undertaking an intersection upgrade as part of the broader Yalwal Road improvement project. This upgrade is designed to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic resulting from the development of the Mundamia Urban Release Area (URA). The project is supported by funding assistance from the NSW Government’s Low Cost Loan Initiative (LCLI)

The latest

17/4/2026 - Council’s contractor has established the site and is commencing adjustments to underground services. Traffic control is in place. Please follow the reduced roadwork speed limits.

About the project

The detailed design for the Yalwal Road intersection upgrade is now complete. The scope of works includes:

  • A fully channelised right-turn lane from Yalwal Road into George Evans Road
  • A fully channelised left-turn lane from Yalwal Road into George Evans Road
  • Construction of two approach lanes on George Evans Road leading to Yalwal Road, extending from the existing roundabout

These improvements are designed to enhance traffic flow and safety in preparation for increased demand from the Mundamia Urban Release Area (URA).

 

History 2025/2026

16/03/2026 - Council’s contractor is currently coordinating service relocations works with the various communications asset owners prior to establishing on site for construction.

10/02/2026 - Construction works have been awarded to A1 Earthworx Mining & Civil Pty Ltd t/a Cleary Bros. Construction planning and procurement is underway, and works are expected to start onsite early March 2026 with a completion date of end of August 2026.

21/01/2026 - Tenders for the project have closed and are being reported to Council at its meeting on 27 January 2026 where a contractor will be selected to undertake the works.

28/11/2025 - The Project is currently out for Tender.

17/10/2025 - Design Documents have been finalised, and tender documents for construction are currently being prepared.

21/07/2025 - A geotechnical investigation is currently underway to validate the pavement design.
