About the project

The existing dual lane boat ramp is exhibiting signs of deterioration and, with insufficient extent of ramp, is unusable at low tides for boaters. This insufficient extent is also permitting wash from boats and turbulence from motor propellors to create a void at the toe of the ramp. This void can be hazardous to boaters with boat trailer wheels able to fall in. The current grade of ramp is also non-compliant at around 1:10 and so is challenging for use by boaters.

The existing boat ramp and central access pontoon will be replaced and upgraded to better accommodate watercraft and be more user-friendly for recreational users.

As part of this project the accessible parking space at the northern end of the carpark will be formalized. Other upgrades to the carpark are not planned as part of this project.

Estimated Project Timeline:

Detailed Design - March 2026 to June 2026

Tendering - July 2026 to August 2026

Construction - September 2026 to November 2026

Note: The grant funding deadline for construction is September 2027. If the above construction timing cannot be achieved, construction may be pushed back until after the 2027 Easter holiday to avoid closing the boat ramp during the highest use period.
