The Project Team are in the process of engaging a consultant to develop the Management Strategy. Works are anticipated to commence in June 2026.

About the project

Council manages a wide range of boating infrastructure across the Shoalhaven, including boat ramps, wharves, jetties and pontoons.

Council has received funding from Transport for NSW through the Boating Infrastructure for Communities Grants Program to prepare the Shoalhaven Boating Infrastructure Optimisation Plan and Management Strategy.

This project aims to identify clear management actions for Council-managed waterway assets, taking into account social, environmental and budget considerations, as well as opportunities for renewal and remediation.

The project includes a review of the condition, facilities, usage and distribution of Council‑managed boat ramps and other waterway assets, and will provide recommendations to guide their future management. The outcome will be a Boating Infrastructure Optimisation Plan and Management Strategy for the Shoalhaven, including a prioritised program of works to support the effective management and optimisation of waterway assets.

The project will support Council to develop a long‑term, strategic approach to managing waterways infrastructure, consistent with management actions identified in Council’s Coastal Management Programs, including:
