Old Southern Road - Nowra - Shared User Path

Shoalhaven City Council has been successful in securing funding for the detailed design and construction of a shared user path along Old Southern Road in Nowra as part of a Transport for NSW grant to deliver active transport infrastructure projects.

November 2025 Update 2 - Crews have commenced construction on site, starting on the northern end of Old Southern Rd on the eastern side.

About the project

Council is undertaking design and construction of a 2.5m Shared User Path along Old Southern Road between Greenwell Point Road and Peppermint Drive. The path is to be located on the eastern side for the full length with connections to Elderberry Ave, Coachwood Ave, Mountain Ash Pl and Sugarwood Rd. The path will connect to the crossing on Old Southern Rd 130m from Greenwell Point Rd.

Previous Updates

  • November 2025 Update - Detailed Design has been completed and final reviews/approvals by TfNSW are being undertaken. Councils' construction crew is preparing to commence in early December.
  • October 2025 Update - Detailed Design was extended to include a portion of the eastern side of Old Southern Rd to link existing paths
  • September 2025 Update - Detailed design is in its final stages
  • June 2025 Update - Detailed design continuing.
  • May 2025 Update - Detailed design is underway.
  • April 2025 Update - Council has engaged a designer to complete detailed design for approval by TfNSW prior to construction.
  • Feb 2025 Update - Concept design of the project has been completed with possible future sections shown in different stages. Stage A currently in detailed design phase extends from Greenwell Point Road to Peppermint Drive on the eastern side of Old Southern Road.
