Murramarang Road Footpath - Section 3

Construction of a 2.0m wide footpath along the eastern side of Murramarang Rd. The proposed path will extend the existing footpath (which currently terminates at the O'Brien St intersection in Kioloa) for 1.1km until the Shelly Beach access carpark.

30/03/2026 - The final stage (stage 3) of the Murramarang Shared User Path from Kioloa to Bawley Point is now complete and fully open to the public. Works include 1.1km of concrete path and a 15m footbridge.

About the project

Section 3 - Shelly Beach Access Carpark to O’Brien St Intersection

Council has gained NSW Government funding to complete this section of path as part of the election commitment to support active transport in the Shoalhaven region.

Construction is in progress and expected to be complete by September 2025.

History

23/12/2025 - Around 200 metres of concrete path and the new pedestrian bridge are the final pieces of work. This section of the site remains closed for safety, Construction will resume in mid-January and is on track to be finished by the end of January 2026.
20/11/2025 - The bridge remains on track for completion and opening around 19 December 2025. Contractor, Jirgens Civil, has advised that works are expected to commence 23rd November 2025. The path to Kioloa is now complete with some missing sections awaiting NBN pits to be raised.
16/10/2025 - Approximately 65% of the concrete path has now been constructed. Preparation works for the pedestrian bridge are scheduled to commence in early November 2025, with the bridge expected to be open to the public by mid-December.
18/08/2025 - Construction has been moving along despite the recent wet weather events. Approximately 460 lm of concrete path has been poured. The project is approximately 40% complete.
July Update 2025 - Footpath works continuing.
June 2025 Update - Works continuing from the Shelly Beach carpark end.
May 2025 Update - Works have commenced from the Shelly Beach carpark end.
May 2025 Update - Works to commence on 05/05/2025, weather permitting. Refer to the notice of commencement for further details.
April 2025 Update - The contract has been awarded. Preliminaries and pre works documentation are in progress. Site commencement date will be confirmed soon.
