Dolphin Point Road - Dolphin Point - Footpath

Construction of a 2.0m wide footpath on the eastern side of Dolphin Point Rd running from the Burrill Lake Lions Park access road to Seaside Parade. The project also includes kerb & gutter construction and drainage improvements.

Announcement

A probable Aboriginal heritage object has been identified north of the Dolphin Point Tourist Park entrance. To continue with works at this location Council requires an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit (AHIP) and to conduct further investigations. The project has been split into two stages. Stage 1 is complete. Stage 2 is planned for later in 2026 once the AHIP is in place.

Council has gained NSW Government funding to complete the Dolphin Point Road footpath as part of the election commitment to support active transport in the Shoalhaven region.

History

April 2026 Update - Stage 1 works are complete. Stage 2 construction is pending the outcome of the Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit process. Stage 2 timing TBC.
26/02/2026 Update - Asphalt is complete. Road has been reopened to traffic. Footpath is open for use. Planting in progress. Handrail to be installed next week.
12/02/2026 Update - All of Stage 1 footpath has been completed. Road works continuing into next week. Seal date TBC.
29/01/2026 Update - Footpath has been poured from Bonnie Troon Cl to the roundabout. Remainder of footpath to be completed by mid-next week. Road set to be sealed at the end of next week, weather permitting.
15/01/2026 Update - Works are continuing. A stormwater road crossing will be constructed early next week with the road set to be sealed at the end of next week, weather permitting.
23/12/2025 - Despite the best efforts of the Contractor to get the road back to two lanes prior to Christmas, the road will continue to operate under mobile traffic lights over the break with the Contractor set to complete the road works early in January.
December 2025 Update - Construction of the retaining wall is complete. Backfilling behind the retaining wall and reconstruction of the road is continuing. The project is on track to have the road back to two lanes over the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
October 2025 Update - Retaining wall footing complete. Road shoulder construction in progress.
September 2025 Update - Stage 1 works have commenced. Tree clearing in progress.
September 2025 Update - Stage 1 works to commence next week.
August 2025 Update - The construction tender has been awarded. Pre works documentation is being prepared by the Contractor. Stage 1 to commence around mid-September 2025.
July 2025 Update - The construction tender submissions have been received and are being evaluated. Council anticipates a site establishment date for Stage 1 towards the end of August. The watermain relocation works have commenced.
June 2025 Update - The construction tender is currently live, and submissions are due on 04 July 2025. Council anticipates a site establishment date for Stage 1 towards the end of August and is aiming to have the watermain relocation done prior to this.
May 2025 Update - The construction tender is scheduled to be released on Wednesday 21/05/25.
April 2025 Update - The issued for construction design is complete and available for download from the related information section of this webpage. The tender documentation is being prepared with construction currently forecast to take place from June 2025 to September 2025.
March 2025 Update - Community feedback on the 90% design has been received and addressed. The water main relocation design is in progress.
January 2025 Update - The 90% design has been received and issued to the Burrill Lake Community Association and directly affected residents for comments.
