About the project

Council is planning to restore a section of eroded riverbank at 57 Coorong Road, North Nowra.

The site has ongoing erosion and was further damaged by the 2019–2020 bushfires and later floods. Parts of the bank are unstable and slumping, which has led to land loss and exposed areas.

This site is listed as a high priority in the final draft of the Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program (CMP), which is pending adoption.

What’s happening

We’re currently advertising a Request for Tender for the following works:

  • weed control across the site
  • bank reprofiling to reduce the slope and improve stability
  • rock beaching to protect the bank from water pressure and erosion
  • bank stabilisation to prevent further land loss
  • revegetation using suitable native species to support habitat and long-term resilience.
