Danjera Dam Recreation Area at Yalwal is a popular recreation area, located around 30km west of Nowra. Danjera Dam is an isolated location surrounded by native bushland and access is via a single dirt road. The dam’s waters cover an old gold mining town called Yalwal.
Upgrade works are being carried out at Danjera Dam recreation area between 3 October 2023 and March 2024. The access road is now closed.See below for map of closures.
12 December 2023 - Recent storm events have damaged the access road, cutting off safe access to the dam recreation area.Council is working to repair the road so that work can continue on stage 1 of the project, however due to this setback it will not be possible to allow short term access to the site for the school holiday period. Please see related documents for a full update on the closures.
Shoalhaven City Council is improving the recreational use of Danjera Dam.
The project will be executed in stages, with Stage 1 to be completed by March 2024.
