Danjera Dam Recreational Area Construction Project

Danjera Dam Recreation Area at Yalwal is a popular recreation area, located around 30km west of Nowra. Danjera Dam is an isolated location surrounded by native bushland and access is via a single dirt road. The dam’s waters cover an old gold mining town called Yalwal.

About the project

Shoalhaven City Council is improving the recreational use of Danjera Dam.

Project will be executed in stages, with Stage 1 to be completed by March 2024.

Overall Project Highlights:

  • Overall Detailed Design Completion – 2022

Stage 1 Works

The general scope of works includes, but is not limited to the following items:

  • Provide a one-way perimeter road approximately 4m wide;
  • Provide landscaping, installation of 3 steel 4 x 6m picnic shelters, furniture, seating;
  • Widening of access roads;
  • Creation of new car/trailer parking areas, including associated bollards (or treated log barrier), raised pavement markers, turfgrid (or approved equivalent);
  • Improvement of existing boat launching access road, including grooved concrete pavement;
  • Provision of all nominated signage, line markings and pavement delineation treatments.

Please note: Works highlighted within the red lines are excluded from Stage 1 works.
