March 2024 Update - Preliminary works in progress. Site establishment and tree clearing to commence towards the end of March 2024.

About the project

The proposed works will involve upgrading the existing stormwater management systems located between Cameron Street and Sandra Street, which include the following deliverables:

  • Installation of approximately 260 metres of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) along Cameron Street and Hayward Street road reserve and associated earthworks. This will require extensive vegetation removal along the road reserve (including trees).
  • Installation of stormwater pits.
  • Creation of grassed swale drains above the RCP within the Hayward Street road reserve.
  • Installation of layback kerb at the western end of Cameron Street and associated road pavement works.
  • Installation of scour protection (3.5 metres length using basalt spalls) at the northern Sandra Street stormwater outlet.
  • Reinstatement of driveways and road pavement impacted by the works.

The proposed works have been split into 2 stages:

  • Stage 1: Associated works along Hayward Street, between Sandra Street and Esme Street, and
  • Stage 2: Remaining works along the Hayward Street road casement, between Esme Street and Cameron Street.

Due to budget restraints only Stage 1 works are scheduled to take place in 2023-24.

For further details please refer to the Hayward Street / Cameron Street Drainage Improvements Plan and the Review of Environmental Factors in the related documents.

Residents affected by the works were notified in March and some final design changes have been incorporated based on the feedback received.
