The Shoalhaven encompasses 165km of coastal zone, from North Durras in the south to Seven Mile Beach in the north. Shoalhaven City Council manages much of the coast’s beaches, bays and headlands, and some of the lakes and estuaries, often in partnership with state government agencies.

In 2018, Council prepared a Coastal Zone Management Plan for the ‘Open Coast’ – that is, the coastline open to the sea.

Council is establishing three Coastal Management Program Advisory Committees in the Northern, Central and Southern areas of the Shoalhaven.
