In 2021, Council resolved to develop detail design plans for the redevelopment of the Bay and Basin Leisure centre to include a learn to swim pool, extensions to the gym and the It will also include netball courts, cricket practice wickets, associated amenities and carparking.
Background
In response to population growth in the Bay and Basin area, Council decided to develop the Bay and Basin Leisure Centre and surrounding sporting precinct to create a ‘Community and Sporting’ Hub. Accordingly, in 2016 Council engaged consultants Group GSA to develop a Master Plan, the Council endorsed master plan (floor plan) is provided below.
Council has resolved to move to detail design so that we have ‘shovel ready’ plans for the Centre.
Council resolved to engaged CO-OP Studio to design the redevelopment of the existing Bay and Basin Leisure Centre and Vincentia Oval (in February 2022) to enhance the current facilities for the region. This includes upgrading and extending the existing leisure centre and upgrading the existing sporting precinct to create an inviting Community and Sporting Hub.
The redesign will incorporate:
- learn to swim pool
- extension to the Gym
- community meeting rooms
- improvements to the existing pool and amenities
- sportsground precinct upgrades including the addition of:
- netball courts
- cricket practice wickets
- amenities.
- landscaping
- carparking.
Council are working with the consultant in relation to timelines for the delivery of this exciting project.
