Get ready for an incredible July school holiday as Council brings you a fantastic line-up of activities that will keep the kids entertained and having a blast while they're off from school.

This winter, children of all ages can get involved in interactive workshops, creative classes, outdoor excursions and fascinating exhibits held at locations across the region.

The holidays will launch with the Arty Farty Party children’s festival inside and outside the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, 10am to 3pm Saturday 1 July.

Between the paid-ticketed shows, the Arty Farty fun will spill out onto the gallery, foyer, and forecourt of the Entertainment Centre with lots of fun and free entertainment.

The free fun includes recording party memories, Arty Farty Party people, fashion workshops, live music, Shoalhaven stories, pinwheels, polaroids, Bookmobile, face painting, lawn games and so much more. Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Patridge and The Listies are the paid- ticketed events.

Children aged 5 to 12 years can get their hands on some science fun with the Whizz, Bang, Fizz events with some yummy experiments at Nowra, Ulladulla and Sanctuary Point libraries.

Primary school students can also enjoy Winter Art program at each of the libraries where they will make and decorate a snow globe and then create some beautiful, wintery snowflake decorations, or make kaleidoscopes in some of the sessions.

Children aged 7 to 12 years can take part in the weaving and jewellery making workshops being held by Gadhungal Murring as part of the NAIDOC Week celebrations at Nowra and Ulladulla libraries. All library sessions require bookings, which can be made via the Shoalhaven Libraries website.

The Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is hosting interactive art activities designed to engage the imagination of children during activities held across the holidays. Classes include Art Play, Clay Playground, Plein-air painting, Craft Play and Creative Mash Ups. Go to the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery website for details.

The popular school holiday camps are being run for half days and full days at the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre on Thursday and Friday of both weeks of the school holidays. Primary school aged children can enjoy the indoor sports, jumping castles and multi-ball, arts and crafts on offer to keep the kids engaged.

Winter is the perfect time to prepare children for summer swimming with the Learn to Swim and Squad Swimming programs held at aquatic swim centres across the Shoalhaven. Get in touch with your nearest Centre to secure your enrolment, contact details available on the Shoalhaven Swim, Sport and Fitness website.

In addition to the standard term swim classes, school holiday intensive programs are designed to fast-track progress. They're also a great activity to keep the kids active over the break.
