Call for Proposals - The Terra Within

The Terra Within is a major exhibition, curated by Warwick Keen, to be staged at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery over October and November 2020 as a response to the 250th anniversary of Cook's voyage to chart the east coast of Australia.  The exhibition will use a range of artworks across all media to explore the themes Impact and Survival.  These will be used to address the impacts of the past 250 years of colonisation and also celebrating the survival of the oldest living culture in the world.  The exhibition will seek to explore the differing experiences and perspectives, acknowledge the trauma, bring new and different voices to light and provide a place to celebrate the continuation of culture, knowledge and connection to country.  Three (3) artworks will be commissioned to complement and extend the works being borrowed from public and private collections and the previously awarded major commission by Peter Hewitt.  Individual and collaborate works are accepted as are contemporary and/or traditional art forms.

For further information, download Terra Within Commission EOI and Terra Within Submission form.  Submissions close on Tuesday 9 June 2020.  Enquiries to Arts & Culture Manager, Bronwyn Coulston, on (02) 4429 5444.

Call for Submissions - Wonder & Dread

Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is seeking to commission an artwork that responds to the extreme weather events of 2019 / 2020. These events include the devastating bushfires, the floods of February 2020, and in an ancillary capacity, COVID-19. The artwork can respond to the cumulative effect of these extraordinary events that have occurred within rapid succession of each other. The work could also choose to reflect only on the bushfires or flood, and the effect of those events.
The focus of the commissioned artwork is community impact and connection. The work must include the ability for the community to respond, contribute or connect with the work in some way.  Individual and collaborative works are accepted. All art forms are welcome. We will consider gallery works and works suited to the outdoors (or a combination of both).  For further information, go to Wonder & Dread - New Commission and Wonder & Dread - Submission Form.

Submissions close on Friday, 22 May 2020.  For all enquiries please telephone Bronwyn Coulston, Arts & Culture Manager on (02) 4429 5441.
