Project Stages

Options Assessment: Completed in November 2020
The Options Assessment was undertaken to resolve the odours at the intersection of Killara Rd and Old Southern Rd. It was found that the existing system was not performing due to the recent residential developments in the area, and an upgrade of the system was required.

Detailed Designs: Completed in November 2022
The detailed designs compromised of five distinct packages and two additional packages as follows:

• Package 1: Sewer Rising Main between Amalfi Cr and Greenwell Point Rd, Nowra and Sewer Gravity Main between Greenwell Point Rd and Old Southern Rd/ Killara Rd.
• Package 2: New Sewer Pump Station at Ratcliff Park, Greenwell Point Rd, Nowra
• Package 3: Sewer Main in South Nowra (Old Southern Rd, and Browns Rd)
• Package 4: New sewer mains in Worrigee
• Package 5: Emergency storages at various pump station sites.
• Worrigee Urban Release Area Sewer Rising Main: Provision of sewer infrastructure for connection by the planned Worrigee urban release area development.
• Sewer Pump Station: 16 Sewer Rising Main: Relocation of the existing Sewer Rising Main.

Review of Environmental Factors (REF): Endorsed in 2022
The REF was placed on Public Exhibition in October 2021
An Addendum REF was required, and was placed on Public Exhibition in May 2024

Construction Works: commenced August 2023 and ongoing.

• Package 1: 1.2km of sewer main has been installed between Amalfi Cr & Greenwell Point Rd Pipe installation is progressing between Old Southern Rd/ Killara Rd & Greenwell Point Rd
• Package 2: Construction of a 9m deep Sewer Pumping Station at the Corner of Greenwell Point Rd and Clipper Rd.
• Package 3: Installation of 1km of pipeline along Old Southern Road, between Nowra Christian School and Killara Road, Nowra.
• Package 4: Installation of 1.1km of pipeline between Worrigee Road and Sugarwood Road, Nowra.
• Package 5: Emergency storages at SPS19, SPS22, and SPS24 are now operational.
• Worrigee Urban Release Area Sewer Rising Main: Installation of 2.4km of pipeline along Worrigee Road, South of Isa Road to allow future connection of the planned Worrigee Urban Release Area.
• Sewer Pump Station 16 Sewer Rising Main: Installation of 1.6km of pipeline between Hillcrest Ave, South Nowra and Carrington Park Drive, Nowra.

Project Progress

• Review of Environmental Factors exhibited and endorsed in 2022
• Detailed designs completed 2022
• Package 1: Works have commenced and are ongoing. Works are anticipated to be completed late 2025. Current Package 1 works include:
  • Deep gravity mains installation in Ratcliff Park - Completed.

  • 

  • Gravity mains between Carrington Park Drive to Ratcliff Park - Completed.
  • Sewer rising main between Amalfi Crescent and Greenwell Point Road - Completed. 
  • Commencement of gravity main works in Burradoo Crescent and Carrington Park Reserve in November 2025.
• Package 2: Works have commenced and are ongoing. Works are anticipated to be completed mid-late 2025. Current Package 2 works include:
  • Construction of pump station infrastructure - Completed.
  • Construction of pump station overflow line - Completed.
  • Site restoration and contractor demobilisation in progress.
  • 
• Package 3: Contractor has commenced work onsite with work programmed to be completed late February 2026.
• Package 4: Contractor has commenced work onsite with work programmed to be completed late March 2026.
• Worrigee Urban Release Area Sewer Rising Main (Worrigee URA SRM): Contract has been awarded with works programmed to commence March 2026 and completion scheduled for July 2026.
• Sewer Pump Station 16 Sewer Rising Main (SPS16 SRM): Contractor has commenced work onsite with work programmed to be completed May 2026.
