About the project

Keeping cats indoors helps protect wildlife, reduces roaming, and supports pet wellbeing.

Shoalhaven is one of 30 councils working with the RSPCA to share practical tips and resources to help cats thrive in safe, contained environments.

The program encourages cat owners to:

  • Desex, microchip, and register their cats
  • Keep cats safely contained at home

For more information about the project, visit the RSPCA NSW website.

This project has been assisted by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust.  RSPCA NSW is a community-based, not for profit, animal welfare charity that protects, cares for, treats and rehomes animals across New South Wales.

Not all cat videos are funny

We love cats and hate to see them get hurt, which is why we’ve been working hard over the last few years to keep cats safe from harm through our project Keeping Cats Safe at Home.

Trauma is the leading cause of death for cats. But it is possible to change this shocking reality and keep our beloved companions safe.
