Work to fix some of the Shoalhaven’s worst affected roads damaged in last year’s natural disasters is due to begin in February next year following the appointment of an experienced contractor.

Regional business, Roadworx, will deliver on the package of works to remediate seven roads between Sussex Inlet and Morton.

Beorn Hulme, Senior Project Manager, said this was welcome news for people who live, work and visit the southern part of the region.

“After many months of geotechnical investigations, design work and tender preparation, it’s great to have a committed and skilled contractor signed on to the project,” Mr Hulme said.

“Roadworx has more than 20 years’ experience fixing regional, local government roads so we’re excited to see them hit the ground next year and deliver on this package,” he said.

“This is a multi-million-dollar package funded by the state and federal governments predominantly through natural disaster funding.”

Roads in the tender package include:

  • Sussex Inlet Road, Sussex Inlet
  • Bendalong Road and Inyadda Drive, Bendalong
  • Lake Conjola Entrance Road, Lake Conjola
  • Fishermans Paradise Road, Fishermans Paradise
  • Woodstock Road and Woodburn Road, Morton

Roadworx is scheduled to start work on Sussex Inlet Road in February 2024, with all sites completed by mid-year. A comprehensive traffic plan will be in place to minimise delays to residents during operations.

Notification will be provided to the community before works begin, with electronic boards, letters to residents and project updates provided throughout the project.

Roads included in the tender package will continue to be monitored over the busy holiday season, with temporary repairs carried out where necessary until works begin.
