Shoalhaven City Council is hosting Shoalhaven Youth Week in partnership with NSW Government and local community groups, from Tuesday 1 to Wednesday 9 September, instead of April this year due to COVID-19.

Shoalhaven Youth Week is an opportunity for young people aged 12 to 24 years to share ideas, attend local events, showcase their talents, celebrate their contribution to the community, take part in competitions and have fun!

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Amanda Findley said, “The Theme of NSW Youth Week is Speak Up, Be Involved, Get Connected and Have Fun. I encourage the youth of Shoalhaven to come along and take this opportunity to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives and create and enjoy the activities and events.”

All Youth Week events will be hosted by businesses or community groups across the Shoalhaven region independently of Council. Events within the calendar will be hosted in line with restrictions surrounding COVID-19 at the time of the event.

Events and activities include Youth Street Pop-up Shop, movie screening, Bulwul Balaang Pamper Day, Art Workshop for Young People with a Disability, Youth Survey, an Information Stall and other events.

“We are encouraging the young people in our region to come together and be part of this year's celebration with a range of free and low-cost events run by Community Organisation's funded by Council,” Mayor Findley said.

Council will be promoting a range of COVID-19 safe events as well as promoting the contribution that Young People make to our community.

Shoalhaven City Council would like to remind residents attending events to observe NSW health guidelines on social distancing, self-isolation and testing procedures, handwashing and personal hygiene practices.
