Construction Certificates

To commence building works you need to firstly obtain a Construction Certificate before you start the build. This Certificate confirms:

  • Construction plans and specifications are consistent with the development consent and comply with the Building Code of Australia
  • All the required fees and development contributions have been paid
  • All development consent conditions required to be satisfied before the issue of the construction certificate have been satisfied

Note

It is important to understand a Construction Certificate cannot be issued retrospectively and penalties can apply if building works are unauthorised.

After we issue a Construction Certificate, Council’s Registered Certifiers will need to complete the critical stage inspections identified in the contract.
