Nowra still leading the race to host an Austar Carnival
July 12, 2011
Nowra is still in the box seat to host the Austar Carnival this October, despite having the lead halved by the fast finishing Port Macquarie.
Leading by over 1,000 votes a week ago, Nowra now leads Port Macquarie by a slender 460 votes.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said all local residents keen to bring the Austar Carnival to Nowra needed to visit http://carnival.austar.com.au/ and lodge a daily vote until the competition closes on 8 August.
“I’d encourage all local residents to get behind this competition and ensure Nowra is the host of the Austar Carnival,” said Clr Green.
“The carnival will bring to life many of the Austar channels and allow residents to participate in a host of interactive games, rides and other entertainment.
“Participants will have the chance to utilise their skills as a weather presenter, test their trivia knowledge and compete against TV personalities on the Foxsports challenges.”
“The carnival will bring a lot of publicity to Nowra and should have tremendous flow on effects for the local economy.”
Voting closes on Monday 8 August with the winning town to be announced on Saturday 13 August.
Each week Austar will select ten voters who will each win a $50 Coles/Myer gift voucher.
