Shoalhaven City Council is encouraging metropolitan residents to take advantage of the NSW State Government’s Regional Relocation Grant following a recent upturn in local employment opportunities.
The Regional Relocation Grant provides eligible new Shoalhaven residents with a one-off $7,000 payment to assist with the cost of relocating to a regional home.
The metropolitan area is inclusive of the following local government areas -
• Sydney metropolitan area
• Blue Mountains
With a number of large construction projects to shortly begin in the area, Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said he encouraged residents of metropolitan areas to take advantage of the relocation grant.
“It is little secret that the Shoalhaven is an extremely desirable place in which to reside,” said Clr Green.
“While there are employment concerns right across the country, this is a very exciting time for our area with a number of very large projects set to shortly begin.
“Examples of this are the $192 million HMAS Albatross upgrade and $3 billion AIR 9000 Phase 8 Helicopter projects. Both of these projects will create a large number of full time jobs while also providing a huge shot in the arm for the local economy.
“Two major highway construction projects will commence, at South Nowra and Gerringong, in 2012 which will also add to the government injection of funds into the area and boost local employment.”
“Further to this, the Shoalhaven is attracting more and more sporting events to the region while the area remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the State.”
“While one of the most naturally spectacular and friendly places in which to live, the Shoalhaven is also moving ahead economically and I would certainly encourage any metropolitan residents looking for a change to a better lifestyle to consider the Shoalhaven.”
