Council staff provide food items to local charity
December 04, 2013
Shoalhaven City Council staff have collected 12 large boxes of nonperishable food items for local charity, All Saints Community Care, as part of an annual fundraising drive.
Now in its sixth year, the event sees Council staff dress casually for the day while donating food items to those in need.
Mayor, Joanna Gash said it was extremely heartening to see Council staff combining to donate hundreds of food items to assist less fortunate local residents.
“I’m constantly impressed by the community spirit demonstrated by the staff here at Shoalhaven City Council,” said Clr Gash.
“Many in the community may not be aware as to the number of different fundraisers coordinated by staff to help raise money and awareness for different charities.
“This latest initiative will provide much needed food to assist local residents that may be doing it tough.”
“With Christmas round the corner, this donation may provide a valuable food source for a family that may have otherwise gone without.”
“The All Saints Community Care provides a very valuable service to the local community by providing care and assistance to those in need.”
The donated items included tins of meat, vegetables, pasta, condiments and other assorted food items.
