Shoalhaven City Council is celebrating National Recycling Week from 12-18 November 2018 with ‘Buy it Back’ Open Day at the West Nowra Depot and a series of free workshops.
Mayor Amanda Findley is encouraging Shoalhaven residents to become waste warriors and enjoy one of the National Recycling Week events.
“National Recycling Week is an opportunity for residents to brush up on their knowledge around recycling at home, at work or in your community,” Cr Findley said.
“Council is celebrating with a “Buy It, Back Day” on Saturday, 17 November 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm at West Nowra Recycling and Waste Depot.
“Buy It Back Day is an opportunity for the community to come along and find a bargain at our Buy Back Centre in West Nowra. Celebrating the fact that by buying a second-hand good, you are reducing the consumption of non-renewable resources need to make and ship new products.
“Essentially you are closing the recycling loop and reducing the waste through great purchasing choices and helping to keep valuable resources like timber, plastic and metal out of landfill.
“Come along and find a bargain! Grab a coffee using a reusable cup from our Mug Wall or your own and a free sausage sizzle while you wander around and hunt for a second-hand treasure."
