About the project

Council provides over 80 direct services to ratepayers, visitors and the wider community. The full list of services Council provides can be found in the FAQs. Services include providing libraries, swimming pools and community buildings through to building and maintaining roads, footpaths and cycleways which connect communities. They also include services we are required by legislation to undertake like food safety inspections and assessing development applications.

The diversity and standard of services that Council delivers to the community is beyond that which the current budget allows. If Council does not endorse an application for a rate increase through a Special Rate Variation (SRV) the current services will have to change. Council will still need to find a way to fund the service costs and the only way to do that and maintain a balanced budget would be to reduce current service levels.
