Shoalhaven City Council has been notified of a data breach of the ‘OracleCMS’ which the Council uses as its after-hours phone call service provider.
Council is experiencing delays in assessment timeframes. The Assessment Team are working through applications at full capacity and request patience with our staff during this time.
The Shoalhaven was declared a Natural Disaster Area 14 September 2022 (AGRN 1034) after severe weather and flooding events. This had a major impact on Culburra Beach and surrounding communities, damaging infrastructure and property. As a result of damages, Council is upgrading pedestrian beach access path and stairs at Penguins Head Road, Culburra Beach.
22/4/2024 - Council recently secured funding approval to repair this beach access asset after significant damage caused by a declared natural disaster in 2022. 22/4/2024 - Works will involve the repair of a failed access track, which failed due to severe weather and will require the replacement asset be brought into line with current engineering standards for the coastal environment.
In 2022 severe weather and large waves during a natural disaster event caused significant damage to this pedestrian beach access path and stairs. Scour (coastal erosion) erosion under and between the timber sleepers and the concrete treads is impacting the structural integrity and functionality of the beach access stairs. For safety reasons, the staircase is scheduled for reconstruction and repair works.
The recent approval for Commonwealth disaster recovery funding marks a key milestone in council's efforts to repair the damage and restore the best functionality to this beach access asset. Communication and progress tracking will be maintained to keep all stakeholders informed throughout the repair process.
