About the project

The dam is a disused storage that previously provided a source of water supply for the township of Nowra. The dam is located on an unnamed tributary of the Good Dog Creek, approximately 9 km northwest of Nowra. Cambewarra Dam is over 100-years old and, for the last 40 years, has served no useful purpose. Council engaged a consultant in 2012 to conduct an options assessment resulting in the decision to decommission Cambewarra Dam which involves removal of the concrete wall and backfill of dam site using the embankments.

Project Outcomes

Outcomes of this project include:

  • Detailed design of the decommissioning of Cambewarra Dam.
  • Review of environmental factors.
  • Hydraulic analysis/modelling of the dam site post decommissioning.
