Tech Savvy Seniors

Shoalhaven Libraries is pleased to announce their highly anticipated technology classes during September, thanks to two government grants.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said soon children around the Shoalhaven will be asking their grandparents for digital advice, with the new Tech Savvy Seniors Program and Be Connected classes.

“These great classes enable those who are aged 55 or better to embrace new technologies and stay connected,” Clr Findley said.

“The new Tech Savvy Seniors Program will provide an opportunity for mature residents to develop these new skills and feel more confident using technology to access Council services, medical services or just for socialising.

“It is important that we help older generations stay connected in this new digital world we are living in.

“We understand not everyone will be able to attend the programs, so we are also launching an online initiative, Be Connected. These online resources will strengthen residents’ basic knowledge of using digital devices and how to safely navigate the internet.

Sanctuary Point, Ulladulla and Nowra libraries will hold demonstrations explaining how to use the Be Connected program website and how to access eBooks and eAudiobooks from the user’s home.

Residents who are interested in the programmes are being encouraged to book their place on the Shoalhaven Libraries website or call their local branch - Nowra on 4429 3705, Ulladulla on 4444 8820 and Sanctuary Point on 4406 2076
