December 20, 2011
Shoalhaven City Council presented the latest concept designs for the $8 million Ulladulla Civic Centre and Library redevelopment to a public meeting held in the facility last night.
The proposed redevelopment concept plans will remain on display until Friday 27 January 2012 allowing interested residents to view the plans and make comment.
Over 70 local residents attended the meeting to witness and make comment on the draft plans prepared by Brewster Hjorth Architects.
The proposed redevelopment concept plans include -
• A larger modern library
• Upgraded Civic Auditorium
• Improved access and lift
• Improved tourism area and display foyer
• Full commercial kitchen
The plans also feature an upgraded stage area and downstairs genealogy research area should further funding become available.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said he was very impressed by the proposed redevelopment concept plans saying the redeveloped Ulladulla Civic Centre and Library will provide a fantastic modern facility for residents in the south of the City.
“It was very pleasing to see so many interested community members attend last night’s meeting, ask questions and have their say on the future design of the Civic Centre,” said Clr Green.
“While the budget remains tight, the architects have done a fantastic job of including many of the items the project steering committee saw as necessities.
“While it is only early days, I was very glad to hear so many positive comments from residents impressed with the concept plans as well as some suggestions for further improvement.”
“I would encourage all local residents to view the concept plans either at Council’s Facebook page or by visiting the picture boards on display at the Civic Centre and have their say on the future of this building.”
The concept plans are available for viewing at the Civic Centre until Friday 27 January.
