Shoalhaven City Council has shortlisted Derbury Pty Ltd as the preferred proponent for the proposed development of the Egans Lane Precinct following last night’s Ordinary Meeting.
Council recently invited Expressions of Interest to develop Council owned land within the Egans Lane precinct with a view to developing a vibrant and activated town centre.
The EOI submissions were assessed by a Committee in accordance with an Evaluation Plan considering both Price and Non-Price criteria.
Council will now request the submission of a detailed proposal and commercial terms from Derbury with a view to negotiating the final terms of the overall project.
Mayor, Joanna Gash said she was extremely pleased to see the completion of the evaluation process as she offered her congratulations to Derbury Pty Ltd after being named the preferred proponent.
Mayor, Gash said the General Manager would now enter into negotiations regarding the detailed proposal as the project entered the next phase.
“Council is currently embarking on a revitalisation program designed to activate the Nowra City centre,” said Clr Gash.
“As part of this initiative, Council has identified the Egans Lane precinct as a key catalyst project for the activation and continued growth of Nowra CBD as a regional centre.”
The Mayor said that due to the complexity of the EOI process Council had engaged an independent Probity Advisor for the process.
Mayor, Gash also said that the content of the proposal would remain confidential during the negotiations as if disclosed it could prejudice the commercial position of the proponents and Council.
The Mayor however did confirm that the successful proposal will deliver new commercial retail space with a significant increase in public carparks within the Egans Lane precinct.
