Shoalhaven City Council and the Ulladulla Swim Club will host the NSW Country Regional Swimming Meet at the Ulladulla Leisure Centre from 4 - 5 January 2014.
The carnival will provide local up and coming swimmers the opportunity to perform at a state level swimming meet.
Mayor, Joanna Gash said she was pleased to see Shoalhaven City Council continuing to lure high profile sporting events to the area.
“The upcoming NSW Country Regional Swimming Meet will provide local residents the opportunity to test themselves against high quality opposition from across the State,” said Clr Gash.
“This exciting event is expected to bring hundreds of additional athletes, officials and families to Ulladulla in what will provide another financial boost to the area.
“Given the warm weather and idyllic conditions the area experiences throughout January, I am sure many of the competitors and their families will take the opportunity to spend a couple of additional days exploring the Shoalhaven.”
Swimming NSW Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mark Heathcote said the joint venture between Council and Swimming NSW will provide the swimmers of the South Eastern Swimming Association and their coaches a fantastic opportunity to compete at their own Country Regional Meet.
“The involvement of Shoalhaven City Council in supporting Ulladulla Swimming Club greatly strengthened the Club’s bid and now the people and swimmers of Ulladulla have been rewarded with the hosting rights to one of these exciting meets,” said Mr Heathcote.
“Ulladulla will see hundreds of athletes and their families making the trip to the meet which will not only provide the local swimmers with a stronger pool of competition for their ongoing development but also present an excellent tourism opportunity for visitors to explore all the Shoalhaven has to offer.”
“The involvement of the Council in conjunction with Ulladulla Swim Club puts the meet in great stead to be one of the most successful Country Regional Meets of the year.”
