Green & Bulky Waste Collection Service

1. Overview

Shoalhaven City Council offers a Green and Bulky Waste Collection Service to all residents for their excess garden (green) waste and unwanted bulky household (domestic) items. Residents can book this service by phone.

Collection service must be booked before any items are placed on the kerbside. Payment must be made at time of booking.

2. What garden (green) waste does Council collect?

Where do I leave items for collection?

• Prepare the garden waste for collection and leave it just outside your fence or property boundary but not on the footpath or too close to the road

Grass clippings and leaves:

• Can be bagged or boxed and up to 16 kg in weight for collection

Small prunings:

• Need to be tied in bundles of up to 1 m long, 40 cm diameter, and 16 kg in weight for collection

What is NOT accepted as garden waste:

• Any building related timber such as treated pine, fence palings and furniture
• Logs or branches larger than 150 mm diameter

3. What bulky household items does Council collect?

Where do I leave items for collection?

• Leave items just outside your fence or property boundary but not on the footpath or too close to the road

What size must collection items be?

• Items must be easily and safely carried by two people

Common bulky household items:

• Mattresses (must be wrapped in plastic for Work Health Safety reasons)
• Old furniture
• White goods
• Computers
• TV's
• Bikes
• Wood
• Toys
• Garden tools
• Any general household items

What is NOT accepted as bulky household items:

• Bricks
• Concrete
• Rocks
• Soil
• Building materials
• Carpet
• Large amounts of timber
• Putrescible waste (solid waste that contains organic matter)
• Liquid or chemical waste
• Waste suspected of containing asbestos

4. The cost and payment options

Garden (green) waste:

• $30 per cubic metre which is the equivalent of a level 6x4 trailer load

Bulky waste:

• $77 per cubic metre which is the equivalent of a level 6x4 trailer load

Payment options are:

• Use your valid Household Waste Disposal Voucher for garden or bulky waste
• Use your valid Garden Waste Disposal Voucher for garden waste only
• Credit card
• For residents unable to make a payment by telephone, payments can be made by cash or cheque, prior to booking at our:
