Community to have their say as part of Arts Centre Strategic Plan
February 01, 2013
Shoalhaven City Council is calling on the local community to be part of the area’s creative future by having their say on the Shoalhaven Arts Centre Strategic Plan 2020.
Once completed, the Strategic Plan 2020 will help in further utilising the Arts Centre, Annex and Arts School precincts.
Council has engaged specialist consultancy firm, The Shiny Shiny World, to help construct the Strategic Plan by engaging with Councillors, local residents and arts practitioners in the coming weeks.
As part of the initial construction of the Plan, Council is calling on the local community to make comment about the Arts Centre by filling out a specially created survey available on Council’s website.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash said the survey would help in providing Council with enough information to set the initial direction of the Shoalhaven Arts Centre Strategic Plan 2020.
“Shoalhaven City has a rich, ongoing history of artistic endeavour and culture dating back to the area’s original inhabitants,” said Clr Gash.
“Council is developing the Shoalhaven Arts Centre Strategic Plan 2020 to ensure the Arts Centre continues to both grow with the community and cater to the area’s growing needs moving forward.
“I would certainly encourage local residents to take the time to fill out the survey located on Council’s website and by doing so, have a say on the future direction of arts in the Shoalhaven.”
The Shoalhaven Arts Centre Strategic Plan 2020 survey can be found at www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au from Friday 1 February - Friday 8 February.
