Cammaray Drive - St Georges Basin - Road Closure

The intersection of Cammaray Drive and Loralyn Avenue, St Georges Basin has been subject to significant damage from the March East Coast Low. The addition of a significant volume of subsurface moisture through the natural drainage pathway has caused the road to warp and heave. This project is one of the highest priorities for reconstruction under the Natural Disasters effort.

The latest

24/07/2023 - The works are complete and the road is now open.

About the works

  • 20/07/2023 - The final layer of asphalt has been laid and all works are due for completion on 21 July 2023, weather permitting.
  • 06/07/2023 - Kerb and gutter is scheduled to be installed in mid July with asphalt to follow. Works are planned to be completed by 28 July 2023, weather permitting.
  • 25/05/2023 - Due to the additional work required to remove and replace the unsuitable wet subgrade material, works are now anticipated to be completed in early July 2023.
  • 09/05/2023 - Further thickening of pavement required. See below “About the Works” for more detail.
  • 09/05/2023 - The general road pavement thickness being constructed is 600mm. However, on the northern end of the project an area of very soft and saturated clay (subgrade) material was encountered requiring the removal of a further 600mm thickness of wet subgrade material to bring the total thickness of road pavement to 1200mm. Following the placement and compaction of the additional pavement material, the area will be bitumen sealed before the final asphalt surface layer is placed. Work is planned for completion by the end of May 2023.
  • 30/03/2023 - Works are underway and expected to be completed in May 2023.
  • 09/03/2023 - Additional drainage works are planned for Cammaray Drive along with the pavement repair. Works are due to commence in March.
