Recycled Materials Market Collapse and the Local Impacts
In 2018 the worldwide market for recyclable materials collapsed. This was due to a decision by the Chinese Government to ban the import of most recovered plastics, cardboard and other materials into China. Callala Bay Art Walk
Shoalhaven City Council is encouraging residents to discover the new Callala Bay Art Walk, which was recently installed and proudly supported by the Callala Bay Community Association (BCA). The Callala BCA secured State Government funding last financial year for the project, which has seen the incorporation of Indigenous artwork into the foreshore. Sussex Inlet celebrates facelift and new artwork
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley officially opened the Sussex Inlet streetscape on Saturday, 13 July. Lake Conjola Update
On 16th June 2019 Council commenced works to temporarily open a channel to allow Lake Conjola to drain into the ocean. The specific objectives of the work being to flush the lake, scour sand out of the lake and allow the lake levels to lower by at least 300mm. Council worked with local subcontractors and two community representatives Dirk Treloar and Cathy Ardron who volunteered to be inducted onto the worksite and monitor the works from a community perspective.
