On Friday, 15 November Shoalhaven City Council celebrated the official opening of the state-of-the-art Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre. The completion marks the Shoalhaven’s biggest sporting infrastructure, with the facility placing the region firmly on the international sporting radar.
The $16.4 million development spans across 5, 675 square metres, and has been fitted with the facilities to bring international basketball and netball games to the region. The new Centre includes four multi-sport courts, over 550 grandstand seats, drug testing clinic and Courtside Café.
Shoalhaven City Council would like to thank the Australian Federal Government for committing $2.8 million towards the development of the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley is thrilled with the new facility and urges residents to drop into Bomaderry to experience the new Centre for themselves.
“I am incredibly proud of the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre in Bomaderry - this facility is modern and will give young people, and those young at heart, the opportunity to get active and to connect with one another,” Clr Findley said.
“I believe this new facility will make the Shoalhaven a destination for larger sporting events, with our courts built to the standard of competitive Basketball, Netball, Futsal, Badminton and Volleyball tournaments.”
“Built with the purpose of supporting the growing Shoalhaven population and the increased demand for indoor sports.
“For the last few years, I have been visiting the site regularly. Having seen the construction grow to this amazing facility, I encourage all Shoalhaven residents to drop into the facility to see it for themselves.”
