Chris Creek Navigation Channel and Road Bridge Road Works

Construction of the Chris Creek Shared User Bridge is in progress adjacent to the existing road bridge on River Road near Harbord Street, Sussex Inlet.

The Chris Creek road bridge and waterway will be closed to vehicles, pedestrians and vessels during Heavy lift works in the waterway to ensure the safety of the public.  Heavy lift precast panels works are planned for the following dates:

  • Friday 22nd and Monday 25th of November 2019 - 7am to 5pm

When the Heavy lifts works are in progress, flags and flashing buoys are in place in the channel. When the channel is open, the flags are removed to allow access to vessels. Accessibility to the navigation channel may be confirmed by calling Zauner construction Site Manager Julian on 0400 448 275. There may possibly be changes to the times quoted below at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused to the public as a result of the works and appreciates your patience and understanding.

Alternative navigation access to Sussex Inlet is possible via Badgee Creek, subject to height restriction at Jacobs Drive bridge. It is also possible to launch boats from boat ramps at the following locations :

  • Chris Creek (next to the bridge)
  • Lions Park, Lakehaven Drive,
  • Nielson Lane
  • Sussex Road

Alternative vehicular access is available via Jacobs Drive, Lyons Road and Sussex Inlet Road.
