Shoalhaven City Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on its Community Participation Plan. The proposed model is taking steps to formalise the approach in how Council engages with the community in its planning and decision making.
The Community Participation Plan (CPP) aims to further provide clarity and transparency around how and when communities can participate in the planning and development process, throughout the various stages of proposals to Council.
Mayor Amanda Findley is encouraging the community to read the draft plan and provide feedback, “the Community Participation Plan will be an important resource for communities, shaping when and how they can have their say in proposed developments and matters which affect their communities.” Mayor Amanda Findley said.
“We are entering a time of growth and change; it is important residents are part of this journey. They need to be involved and aware of the opportunities and outcomes that are being established for the City.” Clr Findley said.
This CPP aims to ensure the area continues to support and provide a rich culture and inclusive community spirit through great regional, urban and rural design. The Plan also ensures that Council meets the requirements that have been set by the State Government via the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and through ongoing reforms in the planning system.
