Test results from water samples collected from Lake Conjola 1 May 2019 rated as ‘Good’ against guidelines. The results show that bacterial levels at sample locations have returned back to very low levels after the Monday, 22 April 2019 rainfall event where 81mm fell in just two hours. The test results from sampling the following day, 23 April 2019 showed elevated bacterial levels as a result of this event.
We can usually expect high levels of bacteria in the water after these large downpours and NSW Health recommends not swimming in estuaries, lakes or creeks for this reason for up to three days after high rainfall.
Weekly sampling will continue and results from 8 May 2019 will be available next week. Please note the image above is of a weekly water sample run, that’s why there are fewer bottles. Once a month all of Council’s sample sites within the lake are tested.
