With the help of trained Shoalhaven Ambassadors and keen community volunteers, Shoalhaven Tourism have almost doubled their presence out in region this summer. In 2016, Shoalhaven Tourism launched services out in region in Huskisson and Hyams Beach and in 2017 Sussex Inlet, Vincentia and Bendalong community groups have been added to the mix. Tourism staff and volunteers will welcome and provide education and advice to visitors during the busiest part of Summer Holidays.
Over 30 Visitor Services Staff, Tourism Ambassadors and trained Community Members will assist visitors with local information including: how to get to attractions, where to park, neighbouring picnic areas, bathrooms, cafes etc. Visitor Services staff will liaise closely with Council Rangers should issues arise from 26 December 2017 to 14 January 2018.
Coralie Bell, Tourism Manager says, “Having our Visitor Services staff out in region was been a huge success and we are excited to add our Volunteer Ambassadors and our new community partnerships with Vincentia, Bendalong and Sussex Inlet to this year’s Summer Holidays strategy. Our marketing campaigns such as the 100 Beach Challenge, also assist in dispersing visitors throughout our beautiful strategy will assist in providing on the ground information and services where it is needed as well as in our Nowra and Ulladulla Visitor Centres.”
The new tourism website shoalhaven.com is a great resource for visitors and locals alike with a new trip builder feature that encourages visitors to spend more and stay longer. Successful winter marketing campaigns have also seen winter visitation grow at almost twice the rate of other seasons, assisting in providing year-round jobs to several industries supported by the tourism sector.
