Over 130 people attended the International Youth Day Awards which showcases what great civic citizens the young people of the Shoalhaven are to our City at a ceremony held on Thursday, 2 November 2017 at the Bomaderry Bowling Club.
The community event hosted by the Shoalhaven City Council is an initiative of the Youth Advisory Committee. The Committee aspired to highlight the great work that young people are doing in our area, as well as acknowledge young people who are quietly going about making a difference in our world. The Awards aimed to honour their courage, resilience, determination, motivation, aspirations and spirit.
The Awards honours young people who support, motivate and enrich the lives of others and encourage the wellbeing of our community.
The International Youth Day Award winners are:
- The Challenge and Change Award – Casey Lewis-Holm
- The Good Neighbour award - Winner: Nikita Lee
- The Positive Youth award - Winner: Alyson Green and Talesha Farrell
- The Community Citizenship Award - Winner: Ebony Carriage
- The Inspiration Award - Winner: Jasmine Greenwood
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said, “Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. We have such community minded young people in the Shoalhaven. The City’s future looks very bright in the hands of caring, supportive and motivated young people. You are all true winners in your own right and we the City are so proud of your efforts to date.”
