Shoalhaven City Council will be hosting a number of activities with partner organisations to celebrate Youth Week which will be held from Friday, 31 March to Sunday, 9 April 2017.
Council is encouraging the community to get involved in local activities and events that are planned for Youth Week. Most activities are free or very low cost.
Youth Week acknowledges the valuable contribution young people make to our community allowing them to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives and have some fun at activities and events.
With a diverse range of events including youth forums and workshops, a cup cake decorating competition, youth radio, art sessions and incredible races, the week of activities aims to have something to suit all interests.
The feature Youth Week event is the ‘In Conversation’ workshop with guest speaker, Peter Slattery, on Wednesday, 5 April at the Nowra Showground Pavilion from 6pm – 8 pm. Peter will talk about “Kids Today”, and will motivate and encourage all in attendance to think about the possibilities and power of a strong, inclusive and connected community.
Some local Youth Week events have limited numbers, so visit the events calendar on the Council’s webpage at www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/My-Community/Community-Services/Youth-services/Youth-Week, telephone Council on 4429-3418 or email email@example.com. Some events do require bookings.
All Youth Week events are specifically designed for young people aged 12-24 years, are fully supervised and are drug and alcohol free zones. Parents and carers are welcome.
