Shoalhaven Tourism is seeking friendly volunteers to greet visitors and tell local stories - beacause nobody knows all the best places and things to do in our area like our wonderful residents do!
The volunteer Ambassadors program is a partnership with Shoalhaven Tourism, and Council’s Community Development team. It aims to recruit and upskill locals to become welcoming representatives for the region, a particularly important role to be played as our visitor numbers grow.
The ambassadors will greet visitors with information and things to do, both from the Nowra Visitors Services Centre, and out in the region with Shoalhaven Tourism staff at key events and popular tourism destinations.
All successful ambassadors will be provided with on the job training and a Shoalhaven branded shirt to wear to make them easily identifiable showcasing the pride and passion they have for the region.
Applications are open with the first training session in May 2017.
Interested locals are encouraged to enter their expression of interest by 20 April 2017 at www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/My-Community/Volunteering or pop in to the Shoalhaven Visitor Information Centre.
The program would be perfect for retirees looking to give back, school leavers wanting to learn more about the tourism industry or anyone who has some spare time and loves the Shoalhaven.
