Shoalhaven City Council is calling for nominations for five vacancies on the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group. The vacancies are a result of the normal process of a number of fixed-term industry representatives who retire each year plus any resignations during the last 12 months. The appointment is for a two year period.
The Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group works closely with the Shoalhaven City Council tourism team, who currently enjoy the position of number one regional tourist destination in NSW.
The objective of the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group is to promote tourism to the City. Its role and purpose is to:
- Inform the development, implementation and review of council priorities from the Shoalhaven Tourism Master Plan and councils corporate plan
- Represent the tourism industry and advise and make recommendations to Council on matters relating to tourism, the development of tourism and the future of tourism in the Shoalhaven.
- Promote the direct and in-direct value and benefits of tourism within the Shoalhaven and on a regional, state and national basis.
The group meets no less than quarterly and advises Council on policy for the promotion of the City.
Group membership is a voluntary position but one that carries a lot of prestige in the industry. The Group consists of nine industry representatives and Councillors (including the Mayor).
Nomination to the Group is open to appropriately skilled industry representatives. Self-nominations are normal and acceptable and should include a current CV.
Nominations, quoting 1490E, should be in writing and lodged with the General Manager, via email email@example.com or via post to Shoalhaven City Council, PO Box 42, Nowra 2541 on or before 5pm on Tuesday 28 February 2017.
Any enquiries should be directed to Council’s Tourism Manager, Coralie Bell via email: Coralie.Bell@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au or phone 02 4429 3248.
